The first training “Financial management in healthcare” held

On February 28, 2017 Olena Reshetnyak, international business trainer, and Iryna Glushchenko, CFO, business consultant, conducted first training on financial management in healthcare for employees of the Kharkiv Regional Specialized Baby Home # 1.

Together with trainers participants pondered over effective finance management, discussed the impact of management on the overall success of the organization.

The experiment, which was suggested by Olena Reshetnyak, helped participants to understand the difference between fixed and variable costs, understand in which way assets affect the cost of services. This exercise clearly illustrated the impact of decisions and actions of the manager on the final result.

The employees of the baby home analyzed structure of income and costs of their organization in 2016. Also, they tried to define the cost of services of the health visiting team.

At the end of the training one of the participants noted that the role of a manager in a healthcare organization is extremely responsible and difficult, as it involves making effective management decisions, confirmed by calculations. Participants concluded that planning phase is indeed not only words, but also it is a determination of the results of the organization’s functioning under certain conditions.

The training session is conducted under the Project “Creating a new model of family-and-community oriented services for children with special needs” supported by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
