On March 1, 2017 at the Kharkiv Regional Specialized Baby Home # 1 the first training “Rehabilitation” was conducted.
The trainers of this session are Julia Alimova, Irina Gordienko, Tetyana Teliha, Marina Kobzina and Victoria Turenko. In total five trainings in “Rehabilitation” session will be conducted.
Trainer Irina Gordienko, neurologist, proposed the participants to consider specific example of rehabilitation services providing to child and his/her family. The audience discussed the expectations of parents, experts’ strategy, and results.
Julia Alimova, psychologist, explained the importance of clarifying and approving a parents’ request. She told the participants how to detect problems, how to explore them. The trainer emphasized the necessity to understand and take into account the child needs. Julia Alimova also presented to the audience the basic strategies of interaction with the child, and supported this information with video examples.
Tetyana Teliha, physical rehabilitation expert, acquainted the baby homes’ employees with theories of child physical development, described the normal / ideal child development. Participants learnt how to determine child physical development through joint video analysis of the child's behavior.
The training session is conducted under the Project “Creating a new model of family-and-community oriented services for children with special needs” supported by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
