Training session "Child with special needs" started

On March 22, 2017 experts of Kharkiv regional specialized baby home # 1 Julia Alimova, Irina Gordienko, and Tetyana Teleha, have started a new training session for teachers and medical employees of baby home.

Irina Gordienko, neurologist, acquainted the participants with the International Classification of Functioning (ICF), emphasized differences in the application of the ICF and the International Classification of Diseases (ICD). The trainer noted that simultaneous use of these two classifiers makes it possible for professionals to determine physical and mental conditions of the child, to understand how the child and its environment interact.

Julia Alimova, psychologist, explained in details one of the International Classification of Functioning domains - "Activity and Participation". Then together with Tetyana Teleha, physical rehabilitation specialist, the participants practiced to analyze child's condition. At the end of the training, the trainees consolidated acquired knowledge – they conducted initial evaluation of activity and participation of the child.

The training session is conducted under the Project “Creating a new model of family-and-community oriented services for children with special needs” supported by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
