Baby home staff from east of Ukraine learnt principles of financial management in healthcare organizations

On July 27, 2017 Elena Reshetnyak, international business trainer, and Irina Glushchenko, CFO, business consultant, conducted training on financial management in healthcare organization for employees of Baby homes from different regions of Ukraine.

Together with the trainers participants discussed the issues of financial management in the autonomous healthcare institution and prospects of transition to payments for the services rendered. Representatives of Baby homes reflected how to manage finances in their organizations effectively. With the help of trainers they also considered the impact of asset and cost management on organizational performance.

Elena Reshetnyak suggested an experiment that helped participants to see the real impact of management, to clearly understand the difference between fixed and variable costs. Also such activity confirmed the participants that cost of services depends on the effectiveness of asset utilization.

Specialists of the Baby homes acquainted with the recent draft of the methodology for calculating the cost of healthcare services proposed by the Ministry of Health Care of Ukraine with the help of a specific example offered by the trainers.

During the training participants also talked about the main steps on the way to effectively manage finances in a healthcare organization.

The training was conducted under the Project “Creating a new model of family-and-community oriented services for children with special needs” supported by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
