On September 28, 2017 Change Agency “Perspectives” held a final conference of the project "Creating a new model of family-and-community oriented services for children with special needs" in the "Sun City Premium" conference hall.
The event was attended by Baby homes’ chief physicians and specialist from different regions of Ukraine, representatives of Healthcare and Social Protection departments of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, charity organizations, the Early Intervention Institute and the UNICEF Office in Ukraine.
Tetyana Chernetska, the project coordinator, presented the project results, communicated the difficulties that arose in the process of the project implementation. Baby homes’ teams that participated in strategic planning shared their experience in developing and implementing a new organizational strategy.
Expert on legal issues of reorganization, Sergei Silchenko, informed the participants about the outcomes of lawyers’ work. The project experts also presented methodological manuals on organizational development, electronic medical document circulation, palliative care, rehabilitation, ICF, which were developed under the project.
Study tour participants to Belarus and Georgia shared their impressions and briefed their colleagues on the features of service provision for children with special needs and their families in these countries. During the conference video clips devoted to Baby home #1, music therapy and game therapy were presented.
Specialists from different baby homes were able to discuss the results of the new knowledge and tools implementation. They also worked in groups on the question of development of services for children with special needs and their families. What’s more, the participants had a chance to communicate with the Health Care Minister's advisor and to clarify issues related to the implementation of the National Strategy on the Institutional Care reform.
The final conference was conducted under the Project “Creating a new model of family-and-community oriented services for children with special needs” supported by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
