On September 26, 2016 under the project “Changing primary health care in Kharkiv region: better communication, better family doctors, better health” (supported by the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Donetsk (Dnipro office)) Mykhailo Dovgopol and Olena Reshetnyak, trainers of Change Agency “Perspectives” team, guided 14 family doctors and nurses through planning process for their future autonomous practices.
Firstly, the participants considered their personal preferences. Indeed, a wide range of possibilities will be opened for primary health care professionals because of medical system reforms. Such as starting family solo-practice, join group practice or stay with Community Primary Care Center.
Afterwards participants created profiles for their practices: defined appropriate facilities, number and structure of personnel, categories of people to be served etc.
Trainers presented the Osterwalder’s Business Model Canvas. The role of value proposition in the new competitive environment was discussed. Participants developed value proposition for their practices.
An important step in autonomous practice planning was the development of a monthly practice budget. Participants calculated expected administration costs, utilities payments, taxes, and other charges. Doctors and nurses were able to calculate their personal income under different circumstances and chosen strategies.
